Starfire is Finished

I finished machine stitching the binding and Starfire is now a finished quilt!

I sewed the binding completely by machine by folding it over to the back, gluing basting it down, then using a zipper foot, sewed it from the front along the fold. I’m pretty happy with the results and I had a perfect orange thread color to use in the bobbin. This makes me feel completely justified in my recent thread purchases 😇.

I bought a quilt kit on a shop hop a couple years ago and it is my next project.

The pattern calls for a dark orange dot but the shop substituted a solid orange. I just wasn’t happy with the orange as it seemed too heavy for the quilt so off to the fabric stash……

……where a found the orange on top to replace the solid orange one the bottom. The contrast between the medium orange and the replacement fabric isn’t as great but I think it’s fine for the pattern and not nearly as harsh as the solid. Plus it makes me feel completely justified in my recent fabric purchases 😇. It even has line drawings of flowers which fits in with the feel of the rest of the Ink and Arrow fabrics.

Happy Quilting , Cherie
