I have a finished quilt that my dear friend, Darlene, had partly finished when she passed away. My friend, Patty The Quilt Lady, finished it for me. It means more than I can express……Patty’s post about it is here.
Here it is on the bed.
I am so thankful to have this quilt to remember Darlene.
I’m sewing on the Starfire quilt which has you making HST in a way I’ve not done before although I did know about it. You start with two squares RST, sew around all four edges and then cut on the diagonal twice resulting in four HST’s. I’ve never made them this way because the HST’s end up with biased edges but since this was a precut kit I won in Kelly’s giveaway, I’m using this method.
So far so good 👍🏻 I’m also working on a table runner from a kit my mom had in her sewing room. It has lots of HST’s which are being made using the two at a time method. It’s lovely being home and in my quilt studio again.
Cheers,
Cherie
The quilt looks wonderful on the bed! I am so glad I pushed myself to get it done.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting way to make HSTs. I also would be hesitant because of the bias edges, but I'm sure it will work out. What a lovely way to remember your friend, Darlene. Her quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLooks great on the bed! I am glad you are happy with it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and so special with those memories built into it. I can’t get over the headboard on the bed, though. It is exactly like the one we purchased as newlyweds!
