Bonus HST Project

After I sewed all the bonus triangles I was gifted from Jan & Lisa, I pulled all the blue & green triangles from my own cut off container containers. Then I cut more triangles from my scraps, including strips from trimming backings. I know from laying them out at retreat that half the HST’s need to be ironed to the light side.

Do you know how hard it is to iron to the light side when you automatically iron to the dark side? If I let my mind wander, I end up with a stack ironed to the dark side 😖.

I don’t know how many HST’s I have nor if I have an even number of them pressed to light and dark sides. I will need 1,008 total for a quilt 56” x 72”. Hmmmmm, maybe I should count them……

……..okay, that took a minute 🤣. There are 440 pressed to the dark side and 349 pressed to the light side. I need 64 more to the dark side and 155 more to the light side. I’ve unearthed a few more scraps I can cut but for now, this project will have to wait for more scraps to appear.

At retreat, Nancy asked AI how much fabric was needed to make the 177 2 1/2” HST’s that were gifted to me at retreat….7/8 of a yard of each light and dark fabric. Based on that, 1,008 HST’s is about 11 yards, all from scraps.

Happy quilting, Cherie
