I spent some time with Sophie, my longarm, and quilted a bit of Roll Roll Cotton Boll (RRCB). Sophie is quilting well. The quilter, she is a bit rusty. RRCB needs concentration because it’s hard to see where I’ve quilted, although you can see it in the side picture below, lol. I love the green print on the back which I believe is a Jo Morton.
I’ve also started puzzling the back for Quadrangle. It takes way more time to piece a backing but I have fun doing them.
We’ll see where it goes from here ๐
I’m continuing to sew the Starfire units and hope to get the top together this weekend. Another cheddar block is in the works as well and I have the parts needed to make three more for the 3 x 4 setting.
Any thoughts?
Cheers, Cherie

My guess is that you'll go hunting for the closest green you can find.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting on RRCB is really looking nice! I love a pieced backing but never take the time to do it myself. I must correct that.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting on RRCB is lovely! With piecing the backing you will use up all those left over bits. I am with Quiltdivajulie - you will probably go hunting for a closer match for the green. I bet in person there is more of a difference than how it shows in the photo. No sense in using a green that is going to bug you and that you won't be happy with. I was working on a quilt that I was trying to match a Kona pink with a pink broadcloth. I found a place that carried every Kona color so I contacted them. They let me mail them a sample of what I was trying to match and they found the perfect pink instead of me guessing what it looked like on the computer.
ReplyDeleteI just love your quilting on RRCB, especially since you do it all freehand. WOW!
ReplyDeleteThoughts on the green issue: 1) if it bugs you that it's a different shade now, it will Always bug you whenever you look at the quilt. 2) Historically and traditionally quilters used what they had, so two greens would have been common. Since the second green isn't in the blocks, only in the border, you could just use it and enjoy the quirkiness of it. 3) Even if you go looking for the same Bella solid, it'll likely be a different dye lot anyway. Your call.
